There are more people moving abroad now than there were a few decades ago and I believe this trend will only increase over time. I’ll explain why, but let’s first look at some of the reasons why somebody would want to move abroad in the first place:

I think the main catalysts is the mass globalization of ideas through the internet and social media. Through this, we’re learning about different ways we can live our lives that are different from our parents’ generation and their parents’ generation. We realize, “Oh, I can work from an Airbnb in Mexico as long as I have internet access” or “Oh, I can build a business that makes a decent income and live like a king in Bali” and “Oh, even though I live in another country I can still call my mom every day and visit a couple times a year, which is the same thing I‘d be doing if I lived in another city further away” AND I get to accomplish all of the career and family aspirations I have and live a fun life in London or Cape Town and I actually like this life better…
